Dare to Keep a Secret

Such unbearable beauty in a fall afternoon that burns too brightly, when New England’s dying leaves bury the ground like secrets the trees could no longer keep, and the air whispers with something wanting to be remembered. Except one thing- Something that waits beneath- and presses against the silence, Something I dare not speak about for risk of exposing the secret we dare not talk about, for risk of knowing what could be- what we know would be. I dared not look at the beach this summer, for risk I'd fall in love but I already had I realize now long before. -- Published 10/17/2025
